Card-for-You Project # 2
Topic “My Dream”

Just an Opportunity to Dream…

Although they have no opportunity from birth, all of us are able to give them such opportunity. This year, the “Card for You” project was implemented for the second time with the main objective to give underprivileged and disabled children an opportunity to show their imagination with purposes under the topic of “My Dreams”. Apart from giving the children an opportunity to dream, this painting contest event was also a forum for them to show their imaginations and thoughts through paintings.

All hearts of the givers were filled with joy and happiness when smiles were seen on faces of the children. Their eyes were filled with determination to paint their dreams on white papers in front of them. The children carefully put colors as they wanted. Some of them had some experience from the last painting competition of the previous year so they were very well prepared this time. They drew a draft before the competition day. Card-for-You Project # 4
Topic “For the Father with Our Good Deeds”

Strong Determination to Do Good Deeds for our King

The pictures of happiness seen on the day of celebration of the 60th coronation anniversary when Thai people came together to show their love for the King are still clear in the hearts of all Thai citizens. Although such day has passed by, what still remains with us is the strong determination to be loyal to the King and do good deeds for benefits of the whole society. For a group of underprivileged children, it means a lot to them to be provided with an opportunity to participate in the painting contest and to have a chance to show the power of good deeds through their paintings. The income from sale of the cards on which selected paintings are printed would be used for helping the society in many forms. It is believed that no matter how long the time has passed, all Thai people are determined to “do good things for our King”.

Card-for-You Project # 6
Topic “The Harmony of Differences”

The Harmony of Differences

Today, what Thai society needs the most is to overcome differences in an amicable manner. Children would not be able to live happily in the world where adults endlessly fight with each other. It is not healthy for children to live without good models or be abandoned among the complicated society of disharmony. Many problems would never be solved if people do not accept differences and intend to be a part of each other.

Today, it is time for all of us to jointly find something to hold us with each other by connecting ourselves together with our love for the King, family, religion, and fellow human beings. Everyone has to reduce and leave their selfish self behind and embrace the harmony of differences.

Card-for-You Project # 7
Topic “Nurture Our Dreams with the Value of Sufficiency”

The Beginning…On Middle Path

The world today is facing many problems, including economic, social, environmental and political ones. These problems unavoidably affected our country and cause physical and mental sufferings to all of us at a certain degree. What we should adhere to in order to give us physical and mental strength and lead us to our ultimate goal of ‘happiness’ is sufficiency.

The term sufficiency refers to a modest but adequate scale of living and advocates taking the middle path in life as the optimal route for personal conduct at all levels. It deals with moderation, due consideration and self-immunity on the condition that one must have knowledge and virtue, which will enable him to manage his life, economy and society in a balanced, stable and sustainable way and eventually result in true happiness.

Topic “The Harmony of Differences # 2”

Embracing Differences

การ์ดนี้เพื่อน้อง

Humans are born different in many ways, such as place of birth, race, nationality, religion, language, culture, attitude, value, and belief. However, human beings are social animals so we need to live together, which may cause many problems, including political, religious and language ones. Even an individual person can be different in different periods of time or at different ages or situations. Some people may take differences as a problem that is difficult to fix whereas others have never viewed differences as a problem since they try to understand the differences and adjust themselves.

An important thing to consider is how to enable people in the society to open their mind and accept differences. We may need to reduce and refrain from being ourselves and selfishness, and hold on to something that we have in common, such as our love for the country, religion, and king. If we all work together, our society will be in peace.

Loyalty to our King

การ์ดนี้เพื่อน้อง

“Have you ever fallen in love with someone?” Many people may have asked themselves with this question before. It is said that, “it may be easy to find someone who loves only one person, but it may be difficult to find one person who loves everyone on earth.” That’s right. You may have seen many people who love and try to do everything for someone they love, but how many people would do everything it takes and spend all the time they have for all people in the country. One of those people is our King whom we all know and are grateful to.

It is not surprised that ‘Nai-Luang’ or ‘His Majesty King Bhumibhol Adulyadej the Great’ of Thailand is the beloved king of Thai people all over the country since he has devoted himself for all of us for a long time and always given us endless love. In 2011, to commemorate the auspicious occasion of the 7th cycle or 84th birthday anniversary of His Majesty the King, the Better Thailand Foundation hosted the 9th “Card-for-You Project” painting contest event under the topic of “For our King with Love”, to give children an opportunity to use their art talents to express love and devotion for other persons in the same manner as the King who has given us love without expecting anything in return.
